Holy Cross Catholic Grade School — Preschool through 8th Grade

We keep faith central to every aspect of our students’ education while meeting their unique intellectual and social needs at every stage of their lives. Academically, our instructional strategies integrate technology into the classroom. The curriculum is more departmentalized, with experienced teachers who offer a higher level of expertise in their fields. There is a greater emphasis on 21st century learning, such as critical thinking and problem solving, creativity and innovation, communication and collaboration.

Afr_parkers a guest on our show, Fr. Jim Parker, explains how the children are encouraged to be “living tabernacles”.  He conveys the deeper meaning behind the loving atmosphere of the school. . Mike Puttin, Principal, explains how the children experience an exceptional feeling of being at home here, even for those that are new.

Two teachers, Kelly Carlson and Lisa Baier, explain the philosophy that “We all have Christ in us.” This value is instilled in the children’s hearts through the many programs they offer. Special guest Mary DeBlock who is an original teacher from the school, speaks about the approach they take to “Educate the Whole child”.  This special updated podcast includes a story and interview with a Rob Stevens, a father who visited the school with his wife and four children.  Since the tour they transferred their two school aged children from the public school to this Catholic school.  This is a powerful witness and example of the good things that can happen when we encourage each other.  A big thank you to Bill McNamee, our host.  After listening to the show Rob Stevens, a father called Bill.  This lead them to a tour and now they are in good hands at Holy Cross Catholic School.  Listen in and share with your friends that are on the fence about Catholic schools.

The podcast which includes Rob Stevens family story can be found on the Rockford Diocese show we did by clicking here.   Along with other success stories, we have the Superintendent of Schools interviewed.
